Custom installation and workshop labour units

The TecnoGlobe workshop labour unit allows us to create a custom installation when the vehicle, selected equipment or insurance requirements do not correspond to a standard installation configuration.

Our offers with installation included remain the simplest solution when a predefined package is suitable for the vehicle. When the work requires a universal wiring harness, more extensive dismantling, a specific adaptation or the integration of several devices, TecnoGlobe prepares a personalised quotation based on the required number of workshop labour units.

This formula allows us to adapt the installation to motorcycles, scooters, maxi-scooters, quads and Can-Am vehicles, as well as vehicles whose electrical architecture or accessibility requires a specific assessment.

An installation adapted to your vehicle

Every motorcycle or leisure vehicle has a different configuration. The position of the components, accessibility of the wiring and time required for dismantling can vary considerably depending on the make, model and equipment to be installed.

On certain Kymco maxi-scooters, for example, access to the required connections may involve the time-consuming removal of the front fairing. An installation on a quad or Can-Am may also require a specific adaptation, a particular wiring route or additional protection for the various components.

Workshop labour units allow us to calculate a price that reflects the work actually required, without imposing an excessive package price on vehicles where the installation remains straightforward.

Depending on your vehicle and the required level of protection, TecnoGlobe can assess the individual or combined installation of various devices:

• electronic motorcycle or scooter alarm;
• self-powered siren with internal backup battery;
• shock, lifting or towing detection;
• engine cut-off or electronic immobiliser;
• GPS tracker with smartphone alerts;
• relays and control accessories;

For over 25 years, TecnoGlobe has specialised in the installation and integration of electronic alarms, anti-theft systems and GPS trackers for motorcycles and scooters.

A reliable motorcycle alarm installation involves much more than simply connecting a few wires. It requires an analysis of the vehicle’s electrical architecture, identification of the appropriate signals, careful positioning of the various components and verification that the system operates without interfering with the original electronics.

The work may include:

• analysis of the vehicle’s electrical configuration;
• verification of equipment compatibility;
• identification of the required power supplies and signals;
• selection of a discreet location for the control unit and siren;
• integration of an engine cut-off where required;
• configuration of detectors and security functions;
• verification of indicator-light signalling;
• functional testing before the vehicle is returned.

Plug & Play or universal wiring harness

When a compatible Plug & Play wiring harness is available, TecnoGlobe gives priority to this solution to simplify the integration, minimise modifications to the original wiring and provide a clean and reversible installation.

If no vehicle-specific wiring harness is available, an installation using a universal wiring harness can be considered. This requires additional labour because every connection must be identified and made according to the electrical diagram and the vehicle’s particular configuration.

Using a universal wiring harness is therefore not an improvised solution: it is a personalised installation requiring additional time, expertise and technical care.

Motorcycle alarm requirements imposed by insurers

Insurance company requirements vary according to the policy, the value of the vehicle and the level of cover selected. The insurer may require an AI2/VV2-certified motorcycle alarm, one or more engine immobilisation circuits, shock, lifting or towing detection, and an installation certificate.

The presence of a siren or GPS tracker alone does not guarantee that the vehicle complies with the specific conditions of the insurance policy. Before preparing a custom installation, TecnoGlobe therefore recommends asking the insurer or insurance broker for written confirmation of the applicable requirements.

This guide can be forwarded to the insurance broker or insurance company to compare the proposed protection with the general and specific conditions of the policy. The written requirements can then be sent to TecnoGlobe so that we can select the appropriate equipment and prepare a suitable installation quotation.

When should workshop labour units be used?

One or more units can be included in the quotation when the work requires:

• the use and connection of a universal wiring harness;
• extensive removal of fairing or bodywork components;
• removal of the front fairing on certain maxi-scooters, including some Kymco models;
• a specific electrical or mechanical adaptation;
• installation on a quad, Can-Am or another vehicle outside a standard configuration;
• the combined installation of an alarm, GPS tracker or several accessories;
• a security configuration defined according to the requirements of an insurance policy;
• installation of equipment not covered by a predefined package.

Clear pricing in 30-minute increments

Each unit corresponds to 30 minutes of workshop labour. TecnoGlobe assesses the number of units before the order is placed, according to the vehicle, equipment and anticipated complexity of the installation.

Parts, wiring harnesses and supplies

The unit price exclusively covers workshop labour time. Alarms, GPS trackers, accessories, wiring harnesses, relays, connectors and any other required supplies are invoiced separately unless otherwise stated in the offer or quotation.

If an unforeseeable difficulty is discovered during the installation, TecnoGlobe informs the customer. Any additional work that may increase the agreed amount is only carried out with the customer’s approval.

How do I obtain a custom installation quotation?

1. Send us the make, exact model, year and version of your vehicle.
2. Specify the alarm, GPS tracker or accessories you would like us to install.
3. Provide any written requirements issued by your insurance company.
4. TecnoGlobe checks equipment compatibility and the availability of a Plug & Play wiring harness.
5. We assess the required workshop time and the number of labour units to be included.
6. Once the quotation has been accepted, the installation is carried out by appointment at our workshop in Viesville, Belgium.
