The OptiTracker Patch Tracker uses the extensive Apple Find My network, made up of hundreds of millions of active iPhone, iPad and Mac devices around the world.

When a participating Apple device is nearby, it automatically detects the Patch Tracker and securely relays its location anonymously. Thanks to the very high density of Apple devices, particularly in towns, on roads and in busy places, there are numerous opportunities for detection and location updates.

The owner can then view the reported location directly in the free Find My app, with no SIM card, subscription or third-party app.

The OptiTracker Patch Tracker’s battery is intentionally non-replaceable. This integrated design preserves its exceptionally thin format and allows it to remain permanently installed in narrow or hard-to-reach spaces.

When deeply concealed on a motorcycle or inside equipment, the Patch Tracker is designed to be installed, hidden and forgotten. Its battery life of more than 15 months allows it to perform its purpose for an extended period, without charging or periodic access that could reveal its hiding place.

Plan its replacement when used on everyday items

When used inside a helmet, pannier, bag or on regularly accessible equipment, its battery status can be checked in Apple Find My. The owner can therefore plan its replacement well before the device stops working.

Much more than simply replacing a battery

At the end of its battery life, the complete Patch Tracker is replaced. You are not merely fitting a new battery: you receive new electronics, an intact casing, fresh adhesive and a new period of more than 15 months of battery life.

On a motorcycle or equipment exposed to moisture, temperature changes and vibration, replacing a battery does not renew the electronics or the device’s protective casing. Repeatedly opening a conventional tracker may also weaken its water resistance and contribute to ageing.

No. Registering and viewing the Patch Tracker requires a compatible Apple device with the Find My app.

Is it a true 4G GPS tracker?

No. OptiTracker is an Apple Find My location tag. It does not communicate directly through GPS and cellular networks like a standalone 4G GPS tracker.

Is its location continuously updated?

The Patch Tracker reports its location when detected by a device participating in the Apple Find My network. Update frequency therefore depends on compatible devices passing nearby. The global density of the Apple network supports regular detections, particularly in populated and busy areas.

Why is the battery non-replaceable?

The integrated battery enables a thickness of only 3 mm and a sealed design with no cover to open. The Patch Tracker can remain deeply concealed without having to be retrieved regularly for charging.

How do I know when to replace the Patch Tracker?

Its battery status is indicated in Apple Find My. When used on an accessible everyday item, you can therefore replace it well before it stops working.

Can it be installed inside a motorcycle helmet?

Yes, provided that the chosen location does not modify the shell, EPS liner or protective padding and does not cause discomfort to the wearer.

Can it be used abroad?

Yes. The Apple Find My network operates in many countries. Reporting a location still requires a participating Apple device to pass nearby.

Can only the owner see its location?

Location transmission through Apple Find My is anonymous and encrypted. The Patch Tracker’s location can be viewed through the Apple Account to which it has been registered.
